Valtrex Side Effects
Valtrex is rapidly converted to acyclovir when taken orally. Mechanism of action is to stop viral replication by acyclovir tri phosphate. However, it does not eliminate the virus, hence; Valtrex cannot cure viral infection but reduces the risk of spreading infection to others.
Valtrex Action Mechanism
Consult your doctor before taking Valtrex medication. The usual recommended dosage for shingles is 1000 mg of Valtrex taken three times a day for seven days, while for cold sores is 2000 mg twice a day for one day and genital herpes is 1000 mg 2 times a day for ten days.
Valtrex Dosage
Avoid Valtrex if you are allergic to acyclovir or any inactive components of this medicine.
Do not take Valtrex if you are pregnant or breast-feeding or suffer from any renal complications.
Valtrex Precaution
Common side effects of Valtrex include headache, Nausea or dizziness and stomach pain.
Serious side effects of Valtrex include trouble in speaking and movement, mood changes, change in urine amount and severe allergic reactions.
