Bactrim executes its action by inhibiting folic acid production in bacteria, which is major factor for making DNA and proteins. Thus, Bactrim inhibits purine and dTMP synthesis and thereby inhibits bacterial cell growth (acts as bacteriostatic antibacterial agent).
